Use the editor on a phone or tablet

Draw and edit a genogram on a phone, where the tools sit in a bar along the bottom of the screen and people are moved by touch.

The editor changes to a layout for small screens when it is narrower than 640 pixels, which is the case on most phones. In this layout, the tool rail becomes a bar along the bottom of the screen with Select, Person, Connect, Note and More, and the side panel opens as a sheet from the bottom. The top bar no longer shows View, Key, Arrange and Export or the sample list, and the position of the tools cannot be changed. On a tablet, the editor usually keeps the full layout, and only the touch gestures in the steps below differ from those used with a mouse.

Procedure

  1. 1

Tap More on the bottom bar to see the remaining tools and commands. The sheet lists Lasso, Text, Background, Box select, Pan and Assistant under Draw, and View, Arrange, Export and Tutorial under Chart.

  2. 2

Tap a person to select them. Their details open in a sheet at the bottom of the screen, and the ring for adding relatives appears around the symbol.

  3. 3

Press and hold a person for a moment, and then drag to move them.

  4. 4

Drag with two fingers to move around the chart, and pinch to zoom. In full screen, one finger is enough to move the chart.

  5. 5

Tap More, and then tap View, to reach Clinical mode and Key on the canvas.

Note

The undo and redo buttons are not shown on a phone. Deletions, hidden people, new groups and arrangements can still be reversed with Undo in the message that follows them.
