Add a title or label

Place a title, a date or a short label directly on the canvas, without the card of a sticky note.

Text added with the Text tool has no card behind it, which suits a title or a short label. A longer remark is better written on a sticky note, which has a coloured card and can be pinned to a person.

Demonstration in the editor
This demonstration runs in the editor on a copy of a sample family. It does not change your own chart.

Procedure

    Press T, or click Text on the tool rail.

    Click where the text should go. A bold title appears, such as “The Hawkins Family”, or “Untitled” if the editor finds no common surname.

    Double-click the text and type your own words.

  4. 4

    Use the toolbar above the text to change its typeface, its size, its style or its Colour.

  5. 5

    Drag the text to move it.

Tip

To give the text a card, click Colour in its toolbar and select Put it on a sticky note. In the same way, a sticky note becomes plain text when Plain text, no card is selected from the Note menu in its toolbar.

Note

Text placed on the canvas is included in exports, except in Clinical mode, which leaves it out.
