Record a pregnancy, miscarriage or stillbirth
Add a pregnancy, a miscarriage, an abortion or a stillbirth to the chart by typing a sentence to the Assistant.
McGoldrick, Gerson and Petry (2020) draw pregnancies and pregnancy losses as small symbols among the siblings. A pregnancy is a small triangle, and a miscarriage, an abortion or a stillbirth is drawn smaller than a living sibling and slightly higher, as the symbols below show. The side panel has no control for creating these symbols. They are therefore added by typing a sentence to the Assistant, which needs the AI service to be available.
Procedure
- 1
Press I, or click Assistant on the tool rail. A bar opens in which a change can be typed.
- 2
Type the event with the name of the parent and the year, such as “Helen had a miscarriage in 2008”.
- 3
Press ↵ Enter to send the sentence.
- 4
Check the new symbol, which appears below the parents among their children.
- 5
Press ↵ Enter, or click Keep, to add the symbol to the chart.
Press Esc, or click Undo, to discard the change instead. A larger or less certain change opens for review in the side panel, as described in Review a draft.
The Assistant sends your sentence to an AI model, together with the people who are shown on the chart and the relationships between them. See What happens to your notes.
How they are drawn
After the symbol is added
A pregnancy or a loss can be selected in the same way as a person. Its side panel shows Year in place of Born and has no Health or Life & background section, and its year and notes can be corrected there after it has been added.
