Edit, hide or ungroup a group
This article explains how to rename a group, change its members and years, change its colour or kind, and hide or remove its outline.
Procedure
- 1
Click the name of the group on its outline, or click an empty spot inside the outline. The group card opens beside the outline.
- 2
Click the name at the top of the card and type a new name.
- 3
Click Add under Members, click each person who should join or leave the group, and then click Done.
- 4
Type the years under Years, leaving the end year empty for an arrangement that continues.
- 5
Select another colour under Colour, or select Household, Temporary or Highlight to change the kind of group.
- 6
To remove the outline and keep the people, click Ungroup.
If something else is selected, a click on an empty spot inside the outline only clears the selection, so click a second time. A highlight without a name shows no name on its outline and is opened in this way.
Other actions on the card
The foot of the card holds two further actions. Select members selects everyone in the group, so that they can be moved or edited together. The button with a crossed-out eye hides the outline without deleting the group, and the hidden group is then listed under Hidden groups on the What is drawn tab of View, where Show all brings it back.
Changing the kind of a group also changes its name and its colour, unless they have been changed by hand. A group always keeps at least one member, so the last person cannot be removed from it. The members of a group can be moved together by dragging the name of the group sideways.
